Our main campus is in Talgarth, Mid-Wales. It’s in the heart of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Our vocational courses take place in community settings close by.

Students enrolled on the BMC degree will be taught in locations in the National Park. Talgarth is situated at the crossroads of two main roads in Mid Wales: the A40 and the A479. There are daily bus services to Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Abergavenny and Builth Wells.

BMC encourages active travel, we can help you with planning cycling routes or improving your confidence on a bike. Powys County Council operates a transport service along all trunk roads and our partner, NPTC Group, run a connecting service to their campus in Brecon. We offer a lift share scheme for staff and students sharing similar routes and as we grow will explore transport needs and how we can meet them.

We teach vocational courses (NVQ level 2), and a variety of short courses and activities. See our ‘What’s On’ page for details.

We have also developed a unique interdisciplinary degree in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University titled ‘BA (Hons) Sustainable Futures: Arts, Ecology and Systems Change.’

Find out more about the courses available>>.

  • You can customise your study options – we give you the opportunity to work alongside tutors who will guide you in your own learning journey, wherever that might lead.
  • Located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. For us, nature is the classroom and a laboratory. The Brecon Beacons National Park with its range of biodiverse natural ecosystems and the impacts of human influence is the perfect context for exploring the challenge of a sustainable transition.

Question Category – welsh

Mae CMD yn cynnig un radd hawdd ei chyrchu sydd wedi’i llunio’n berffaith. Cwrs rhyngddisgyblaethol yw’r radd CMD, gyda sylfaen eang yn y flwyddyn gyntaf a luniwyd i’ch galluogi i ryddhau ac archwilio eich doniau, dysgu sut i ddysgu a darganfod eich dull eich hun. Yn yr ail flwyddyn, gall myfyrwyr ddewis o blith nifer o bynciau dewisol sydd naill ai’n arbenigo mewn 1) celfyddydau 2) tir neu 3) technoleg, neu cewch ddethol dull o ddewis a chyfuno er mwyn dewis eich llwybr dysgu eich hun. Yn y drydedd flwyddyn, bydd myfyrwyr yn canolbwyntio ar brosiect sy’n mynd i’r afael ag un o’r heriau a nodwyd gan Ddeddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol.

Mae CMD hefyd yn cynnig ystod o gyrsiau galwedigaethol sy’n canolbwyntio ar hybu economi gylchol leol, carbon isel.

Rydym wedi ein lleoli yng nghanol y Mynydd Du ym Mharc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog yng Nghymru.

Mae yna sawl rheswm.

  • Mae Cymru’n esiampl i eraill. Mae wedi arwain y ffordd gyda Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol, a bydd CMD yn cefnogi rhagor o gamau cadarnhaol cydweithredol sy’n torri tir newydd tuag at ddyfodol cynaliadwy.
  • Mae’n un o’r llefydd harddaf yn y byd.
  • I ni, mae natur yn ystafell ddosbarth ac yn labordy. Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog, gyda’i amrywiaeth o ecosystemau naturiol bioamrywiol a heriau dylanwadau dynol, yw’r cyd-destun perffaith ar gyfer archwilio’r her o weddnewid cynaliadwy.

Mae CMD wedi ailddychmygu addysg drydyddol.

  • Mae ein cyrsiau addysg bellach galwedigaethol yn canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu economi carbon isel, o fewn busnesau a sefydliadau sy’n bodoli eisoes yn ardal y Mynydd Du.
  • Y gwahaniaeth mwyaf yw bod y coleg yn ymroi i’r heriau enfawr, rhyng-gysylltiedig o newid i ffordd gynaliadwy o fyw.
  • Mae’r myfyrwyr yn dilyn blwyddyn sylfaen arloesol a gynlluniwyd i’w galluogi i ddarganfod eu doniau eu hunain a’u cymhwyso i broblemau’r byd go iawn.
  • Mae’r cysyniad o bynciau dewisol yn gyffredin mewn sawl gradd, ond bydd tiwtoriaid yn eich tywys trwy eich siwrnai addysg eich hun, i ble bynnag y gallai hynny arwain. Cyn belled â’ch bod yn gallu dangos cynnydd a ffocws mewn ardal benodol, yna does dim terfyn. Rydym yn ystyried y posibilrwydd o weithio gyda phrifysgolion partner i ddarparu dewis ac ystod mor eang â phosibl o gyneddfau eraill i weithio gyda nhw.

Nid oes unrhyw beth sy’n union yr un fath â CMD, ond mae sefydliadau eraill wedi braenaru’r tir gydag elfennau o’n dull gweithredu. Mae graddau rhyngddisgyblaethol yn eithaf cyffredin y dyddiau hyn ond nid oes rhaglen sy’n ymrwymo i archwilio’r holl wahanol ffyrdd y mae pobl yn dysgu – mae ehangder ein rhaglen hyfforddi synhwyraidd sy’n seiliedig ar y celfyddydau yn unigryw.

Nid yw rhaglen y radd unigol yn unigryw chwaith, ond dyma’r tro cyntaf i sefydliad roi cynnig ar y ffordd y caiff ei strwythuro yn CMD, sef mynd i’r afael â’r her o fyw’n gynaliadwy.

Mae Prifysgol Quest yng Nghanada hefyd yn dilyn y dull bloc o addysgu gyda dosbarthiadau bychain a thaith ddysgu wedi’i chynllunio gan fyfyrwyr. Erbyn hyn, dyma’r coleg sydd â’r nifer uchaf o fyfyrwyr yng Nghanada.

Mae niwrowyddoniaeth o ran sut mae pobl yn dysgu yn eglur: rydym yn dysgu yn llawer mwy effeithiol mewn amrywiaeth o amgylcheddau ac yn enwedig yn yr awyr agored, lle mae’n rhaid i’r ymennydd weithio’n galetach i integreiddio llawer o symbyliadau gwahanol a lle mae cyd-destun pob gwers a ddysgir yn unigryw. Felly, y cwestiwn yn CMD yw, pa elfennau o addysgu y gellir ymgymryd â nhw y tu mewn yn unig?

Gellir ymgymryd â bron pob elfen o’r broses addysgu yn unrhyw le – siarad, arsylwi, trafod, codio, lluniadu, dawnsio, cymryd nodiadau, adeiladu pethau. Mae ein dosbarthiadau bychain yn golygu nad oes rhaid bod y tu mewn i glywed darlith. Pan fydd yn hanfodol bod y tu mewn, er enghraifft, i wylio fideo, gwneud arbrawf dan reolaeth neu pan fo’r tywydd yn anffafriol, mae hynny’n iawn. Ond fel arall, rydym o blaid bod yn yr awyr agored gan mai natur yw’r athrawes orau.

Byddwch. Mae ein hymchwil yn dangos y byddwch yn fwy cyflogadwy ar ôl cael addysg CMD.

Mae 90% o gyflogwyr graddedigion yn dweud nad ydynt yn poeni pa radd a astudiwyd gennych, mai sgiliau meddal fel cyfathrebu, cydweithredu, creadigrwydd a menter sy’n mynd â’u bryd. Dyma fydd CMD yn canolbwyntio arno. Mae pobl sy’n graddio yn awr yn debygol o gael 7 gyrfa yn ystod eu bywydau. Mae hyfforddiant eang CMD yn eich addysgu amdanoch eich hun, a sut i ddysgu. Mae’n eich paratoi ar gyfer arbenigo ymhellach ar lefel raddedig neu gallwch gymhwyso’r sgiliau trosglwyddadwy i ystod gyfan o yrfaoedd gwahanol.

  • Addysgir cymwysterau galwedigaethol cenedlaethol CMD yn y gymuned. Mewn lleoliadau bywyd go iawn gan diwtoriaid sy’n angerddol dros eu pynciau.
  • Mae gennym ddosbarthiadau bychain. Gyda 5 neu lai mewn dosbarth, gall myfyrwyr fod yn sicr y byddant yn derbyn y tiwtora sydd arnynt ei angen.
  • Mae popeth yn ymwneud â’r blaned. Mae ein haddysg i gyd wedi’i chynllunio i gefnogi Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol Cymru, ac i gefnogi Nodau Datblygu Cynaliadwy’r Cenhedloedd Unedig – yn enwedig mewn perthynas â ‘dim newyn’, ‘gwaith gweddus a thwf economaidd ‘, ‘gweithredu dros yr hinsawdd ‘ a ‘ bywyd ar y tir’.
  • Mae ein tiwtoriaid i gyd yn berchenogion busnes yn yr ardal leol. Maent yn arbenigwyr sydd â’r wybodaeth a’r sgiliau ymarferol diweddaraf ac yn angerddol dros eu pynciau.

Byddwch yn derbyn cymhwyster sy’n cael ei gydnabod yn genedlaethol – Cymhwyster Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol City and Guilds, lefel 2. Bydd hyn, ynghyd â’r sgiliau a’r profiad yr ydych wedi’u hennill, yn ddechrau gwych i’ch gyrfa.

Mae ymgynghori â myfyrwyr wedi bod yn ganolog o’r cychwyn cyntaf, ac fe fydd bob amser yn dylanwadu ar yr hyn a wnawn.

Mae panel ieuenctid CMD yn cyfranogi at lunio profiad CMD ac yn helpu i hysbysu’r coleg ar bob cam o’n taith.

  • “What I enjoyed most about studying at BMC was how immersive it was as an experience. Living on campus gave me a sincere connection to the site and made exploring the forests and working with the wood we coppiced feel significant. But what sticks in my mind the most, is the sound of rain tapping the tin roof of the woodworking barn, the sweet smell of wood shavings and the comradery of everyone working together. I continue to use the skills we developed in commissioned work today. Since graduating, I have started my own business – Ashton Dieback Services.”

Tommy Ashton, Coppicing & Greenwood Trades Student
  • The Ecological Futures Camp was a transformative experience. Beyond all, I learned that I can manifest ideas into tangible projects; that I can turn my passion into a blazing fire. A highlight was working in a team to create a solution to problems in the food system. A transformative element of the course was the openness, nuance and delicacy that infected the space. The space felt diverse, with people from many different backgrounds. I felt that the space made room for both our common humanity, the necessary critical social theory, and the importance of bridge-building.

  • It was a friendly crowd – there was a real mix of people; sixth form and university students, a few young landworkers, cafe workers and a lawyer, and a significant range in the breadth and depth of people’s knowledge. The ideas from the camp were focused on people and society’s relationship to food, farming and the land, and how we might go about changing these. The Ecological Futures camp has convinced me that I can live my values and work at changing the world, while existing and supporting myself in a messy world.
