Course introduction

Our Level 3 Diploma in Nature Restoration is designed for people who want to move beyond practical conservation skills and develop the knowledge, confidence and leadership needed to plan, manage and deliver real environmental restoration projects.You’ll study wildlife conservation and sustainable land use at a more advanced level than at Level 2.  

This course will blend theory with practical skills, helping you to develop the confidence and competence necessary to design and restore landscapes, and manage habitats and estates in an environmentally responsible way. Working across our farm, woodlandsand partner sites, you’ll take part in genuine restoration projects while exploring the ecological, social and practical challenges involved in caring for landscapes. 

Throughout the year you’ll develop skills in habitat management, ecological surveying, project planning, community engagementand environmental leadership, preparing you for employment or further study in the conservation and land-based sectors. Our course also has a strong focus on health and safety, biosecurity, waste management, and relevant legislation. 

All students at the College are required to pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of £25. This fee is per student, not per course. The fee must be paid during enrolment.

What will i learn?

• Habitat Restoration & Land Management 

Learn how to assess landscapes, identify restoration priorities and plan practical habitat management. You’ll explore how to improve biodiversity, manage different habitats and balance ecological, recreational and community needs. 

• Ecological Surveys & Monitoring 

Develop the skills to carry out field surveys for habitats, plants and wildlife. You’ll learn how to collect, record and interpret ecological data to inform management decisions and monitor environmental change. 

• Environmental Project Management 

Plan, deliver and evaluate real restoration projects from start to finish. This includes budgeting, resource planning, health and safety, risk assessment, working with partners and evaluating environmental impact. 

• Site Management Planning 

Produce professional management plans for environmental sites by assessing ecological value, identifying opportunities and constraints, and balancing conservation, public access and long-term sustainability. 

• Community Engagement 

Nature restoration is about people as well as places. You’ll work with local communities, schools, landowners and partner organisations, learning how to communicate environmental issues, consult effectively and encourage positive action for nature. 

• Interpretation & Environmental Communication 

Create engaging materials such as interpretation boards, trails, events or educational resources that help others understand and connect with nature. 

• Health, Safety & Professional Practice 

Develop safe working practices for land-based environments, including biosecurity, environmental legislation, risk management and workplace health and safety. 

• Sustainability & Environmental Leadership 

Explore environmental legislation, best practice and how organisations can improve their environmental performance. You’ll learn how to influence others and embed sustainability into practical decision-making.
