Talgarth Talks with Rob Hopkins

What if we all started imagining — and then building — a world we were deeply in love with? 

This is the question of Rob Hopkin’s latest book, and an invitation to imagine and then step into a brighter future. 

In a time when the realities of climate and ecological breakdown can feel overwhelming, it’s easy to slip into paralysis: a ‘freeze state’ where action feels impossible and hope feels far away. 

Writer and Time Traveller, Rob Hopkins, reminds us that practicing hope and imagination helps move us from fatigue and freeze to dreaming more positive futures that we want to build.

About Rob Hopkins

Rob Hopkins is the co-founder of Transition Network and of Transition Town Totnes, and author of several books including The Transition Handbook, From What Is to What If: unleashing the power of imagination to create the future we want and most recently How to Fall in Love with the Future. 

He is an Ashoka Fellow, has spoken at TED Global and at several TEDx events, and appears in the French film phenomenon Demain. Rob holds a PhD from the University of Plymouth as well as two Honoris Causas and hosted 100 episodes of his podcast From What If to What Next. In November 2022 he was made an Honorary Citizen of Liège in Belgium.

• 6pm – Doors open  

• 6.30pm – Talk begins  

• 8pm – Close  

Cost: Pay what you can (suggested donation £5-10)

Location: Talgarth Community Hall, Hay Rd, Talgarth, Brecon LD3 0BW 

Parking: There is limited parking outside the Community Hall which is ideal for those with access needs. If you’re comfortable with a short walk, please park at the free Talgarth Car Park, LD3 0PE 

Refreshments: Hot drinks are provided. Local beer, cider + apple juice from Sobremesa will be available for you to purchase.
