Talgarth Talks with Heather Ackroyd
This month we’re delighted to welcome Heather Ackroyd, one half of the celebrated artist duo Ackroyd & Harvey, for a special evening gathering.
Heather Ackroyd will share the discoveries made through a lifelong collaboration with plants. From a single blade of grass to an oak tree, Heather explores how plants have shaped their vision of the world as an animate presence, full of inspiration and unpredictable creativity.

This talk takes place at the close of our Degree Taster Day for prospective students, so the room will be buzzing with people at all different stages of their journey with us — whether you’re a curious local, a current student, or someone just beginning to explore what Talgarth has to offer. Everyone is warmly welcome.
About Ackroyd & Harvey

Ackroyd & Harvey have been investigating Nature-based processes of growth and decay for over three decades, addressing the forces of anthropogenic climate change and bio-diversity loss that are rapidly reshaping and rewriting Earth’s systems. Their time-based works intersect art, activism, architecture, biology and history, evolving through extended research in response to people and place, interfacing their profound interest in local ecologies and global planetary concerns.
They have received international awards and prizes for their pioneering bio-chemical photography and equally, have been commissioned widely for monumental interventions in the public realm, including London Olympics 2012; David Attenborough Building, Cambridge (2016); Aarhus Triennial, Denmark (2017).
In 2007, they collected and germinated hundreds of acorns from Joseph Beuys’s seminal artwork 7000 Oaks and commenced planting seven oak circles in 2025. To date, five circles have been planted across the UK with further plantings in development.
In 2019, they co-founded Culture Declares Emergency, a collective of international and UK-based Hubs working towards regenerative change through culture, heritage and the arts.
