New House Farm, Dingestow, Monmouth, NP25 4EB

  • 1 placement student to be based across New House and Old Lands
  • Accommodation is provided at this placement
  • 2-bedroom static caravan in its own fenced area with a small patio and wooden decking. The location is lovely, with views out into the fields. There is parking directly outside the caravan – this is also shared with the owners but there is plenty of room.

New House Farm is a first-generation tenancy run by Sarah, who is helped out by her partner Dave occasionally with contractors coming in to support with machinery work. They specialise in holistic planned grazing with Aberdeen Angus cattle.

Parts of the farm are ex arable that are being converted to herbal leys this autumn with the use of pigs to support with cultivation. The pigs will also be used in the woodland areas over the winter for scrub clearance.

A small amount of beef and lamb from the farm will be finished and marketed directly and live animals will also be sold directly to other farms as breeding stock/stores.

There are regularly visitors at the farm undertaking surveys / teaching rural skills so there are lots of opportunities for a student to learn from other people.
