One day course – at Hay Castle, Clore Space
An introduction to linocut. Printmaking techniques have long been associated with protest and following in this tradition we will be using lino cutting tools to carve a design to promote green living inspired by a long history of Art in protest.
This course is run in partnership with The Print Wagon.

Location: The Clore Space, Hay Castle
You should wear suitable clothing – you may get mucky. Please bring a water bottle and a packed lunch for a picnic or Hay has a variety of places to buy lunch. Tea & Coffee available to buy from the Hay Castle Café.
If you’re travelling by car, please park in the Hay-on-Wye public carpark.
What will I do and learn?
- Have an overview of how Art has been used in protest through the ages
- Learn how to use lino cutting tools to produce your design
- Experiment with a range of papers, chine colle and literature de cordel
- Understand how to use inks and printing tools to print your design
