Regenerative Horticulture Level 2 Certificate (PART-TIME)

Course introduction

Our Level 2 Certificate in Regenerative Horticulture will help you to develop skills and knowledge toward further study or a successful and rewarding career in this sector.

This practical course encompasses organic, permaculture and no-dig principles, which work in harmony with nature for a sustainable future. The practical outdoor learning is backed up with classroom theory covering botany, soil science, food production, and ornamental horticulture.

Teaching is based at the Ashfield Community Land Trust, Howey, Llandrindod wells.

This course will run every Wednesday from 11th February – 1st July 2026 (except for weeks during half-terms and Easter Holidays).

The deadline to apply is Midnight on Sunday 25th January, 2026.

What will i learn

Modules covered include the following, each will have a particular focus on sustainability:

  • Assess soil texture & condition 
  • Prepare ground or area for planting 
  • Plant out plants in rows by hand 
  • Propagate plants indoors from seed 
  • Propagate plants by stem cuttings 
  • Identify damage caused by plant pests 
  • Identify plant diseases and disorders 

These modules are only part of the picture. Our focus is on sustainability and ecology, with an emphasis on the soil biome—understanding the critical role of soil ecology and why no-dig methods (biomimicry) are essential for preserving and enriching this environment.

WHY STUDY REGENERATIVE HORTICULTURE?  

This course is ideal for students who want to further their experience of working in horticulture to increase their ability and confidence. You will study in beautiful, real-life training settings. 

After this course, students may be able to: 

  • Move into a 1-year Level 3 Horticulture course with BMC or another provider 
  • Start a career as a self-employed or salaried gardener or landscaper/garden designer
  • Set up or work in a market garden or plant nursery, or work in parks/green spaces 
  • Find work in plant science & technology or as a horticultural teaching assistant or technician
  • Use this qualification towards entry to the BMC undergraduate course 
  • Move on to other relevant higher education courses such as Garden Design, Plant Science, Ethno Botany, Agriscience or Arboriculture

Our students have gone on to set up their own businesses, work with local organisations, or find employment in National Parks, Wildlife Trusts, Woodland Trusts, or on Organic Farms.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture.

No formal grades required. but you should be comfortable working at GCSE standard and be able to use basic IT including internet and email access.
