Curious to learn how you can care for nature?

Join our part time, FREE, 10-week course providing an introduction to the nature all around us, and how to look after and restore it.

There’s so much wildlife to discover in your own backyard and neighbourhood. This accessible course could be your first step into caring for the living world around us.

This course will run from Monday 13th April until Monday 29th June.

This course is in partnership with Coleg y Cymoedd.

What will i learn?

  • How to work safely outside 
  • Learn how to carry out a local habitat surveys
  • Identify trees and plants
  • Find out more about the importance of healthy soil
  • Learn all about spring fungi
  • Wildlife gardening 
  • Public Access to wildlife
  • Invasive species control: Join in some balsam bashing!

Why study Nature Restoration?

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify common trees and flowers and conduct basic surveys
  • Undertake wildlife friendly gardening and nature friendly landscape management at home and at work
  • Progress onto our Level 2 Nature Restoration Diploma, Level 1 Land Based Studies, or other further study.

About Coleg y Cymoedd

Coleg y Cymoedd (College of the Valleys) has one purpose: to transform lives through learning. They achieve that purpose by delivering education and training in South Wales.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Level: Inclusive, friendly and accessible, to encourage learners to engage and potentially progress.

Learners who complete will get a BMC Certificate of Completion and a Skills Passport will be created and each skill successfully achieved will be sign off by tutor.

eligibility

You will need to have an address registered in Wales for the first day of the course.

You cannot study this course:

  • If you are on another Full Time Education Course over the duration of this course.
  • If you are currently in Full Time employment over 35 hours a week.

This course is ineligible for additional student finance/grants – if this is an issue please speak to the course Tutor or FE Lead.
