About the accommodation

Lower Porthamel is part of a working farm where livestock and feed are grown on the arable pastures. The campsite is located on the farm’s organic orchard, offering an authentic camping experience with a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

The camping barn is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, near Talgarth. It adjoins an old apple orchard on an organic Farm. Open all year round it is a warm and comfortable space to come back to after a long hike in the Hills, delight in making food and eating at the long table. Warm, dry and comfortable the barn is equipped with 10 camping beds, a long table, kitchen facilities and a large wood burner, this is the perfect place for the larger family group to stay – just bring your own bedding!

The hot showers (charged at 50p, change available from the house) and toilets are a short walk from the camping barn. These facilities are well maintained and shared with our orchard campers.

Where to find it

Situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, five minutes by car from Talgarth and only ten minutes by car from Hay on Wye, with the River Llynfi and River Wye on the doorstep.

With fishing, hiking, walking, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, gorge walking, horse riding, and cycling all within close proximity.
